Sunday, March 7, 1999 - Two teams with perfect records squared off last Sunday and
remain perfect in the league's biggest rout, a technical 8-0 victory by the Cobras over House Team,
Dynamite. The game was so lopsided, in fact, that the scoreboard was turned off after the
Cobras' 8th goal. They scored 13 in total.
After ending the first period up 1-0, the Cobras (7-0-0) realized they weren't taking the Dynamite (0-7-0)
seriously. "These games can be tricky." said Cobras' Center John Loburak, who had a team record 4 assists.
"It's easy to give a poor effort against a last place team. You take it easy, and the next thing
you know they surprise you with some goals, and you're scrambling to catch-up."
The Cobras never had to play catch-up, as they entered the second period with two goals in the
opening minute from leading scorer, Jim Mucciaccio, and defenseman Yves Maynard. The second also
saw two goals by LW Anders Visconti, who hasn't found the net since the second game of the season.
Abe Ziady and Jim Torchia also scored in the second period to make the score 7-0.
After Nick Freed scored his 8th goal of the season to make the score 8-0 in the first shift of the
third, referee "REF" decided to stop keeping score. "He told us he didn't want to embarrass the other
team any further, so the score stayed 8-0." said Captain Jon "Vroom" Vredevoogd. He later added,
"It's a good thing this happened here at Sports Mall and not at Skate -n- Putt, or we might have been
penalized for too many goals."
It was later confirmed that the Skate -n- Putt officials do indeed have their heads up their asses.
5 more goals were scored in the third, as the Cobras' cruised through their widest margin
of victory this season; a 13-0 bitch-slapping.
After the game, Vroom added, "These kinds of games are good for everyone's confidence... at least,
everyone who isn't on the losing team! Jesus, they got their asses KICKED, didn't they?!"
Next week's game: House - Pucks.
