Priority mail is anything but…

July 28th, 2008

I’m starting to get really tired of the poor service from the Post Office. I am not going to generalize but I’ve seen it in several places I have lived.

One of the biggest things that really urks me is the whole Priority mail 2-3 days NOT guaranteed. I mailed a package out on July 22nd that has STILL not arrived at it’s destination. It was only going one state over and it’s been almost 5 days. The thing that really makes me angry is the fact that I was forced to upgrade to priority just because the weight was slightly above the First Class limit. I mean give me a break the package should have taken 2 days to get there. The price of shipping keeps going up and the service gets slower. What’s the deal? I think the marketing should not make it sound like it’s guaranteed and maybe I wouldnt be so upset.

Another thing that I have a problem with is my PO box. I got a standard letter from the Postal Inspector about mail fraud and what to do if it happens. Well maybe they could help keep the fraud down by making sure they put the right mail in the PO box. I’ve complained for almost a year and I still get the previous owners mail. I have to sort it out and give it to them Everytime I go in. Who knows how much mail of mine is going into someone elses box!
Maybe if they just paid attention there wouldn’t be so much fraud!

Look, over all the millions of pieces of mail get to where they go each day. They do an excellent job 7 days a week and I applaud the effort. I just wish they would be a little more understanding.

Cell phone count during commute

July 25th, 2008

On my commute to and from work I’ve always noticed a ton of people talking or dialing their phones. I decided to count today for the heck of it.

My commute is 35-40 minutes, 23 miles.

This morning I saw 8 people on the phone including 1 school bus driver. Keep in mind I drive mostly back roads to work so I don’t see a ton of cars most of the way. I will count on the way home as well. There are usually more.

I know some of you probably think its just as bad of me to count because my eyes aren’t on the road sometimes but I do it within reason and it’s actually easier than you think!

I’ll update my count when I get home. TGIF!

Update:

10 people on the cellphone on the way home No bus drivers this time!
